Sally and her little babe
Sally is one of my Great Danes that mothered a litter of pups after their mother died 4 days after they were born. Sally and Princess were mortal enemies and I wasn't sure what she would do when I brought her to the puppies. But I knew that they needed more than just me as a mama.
After Princess died at 2am, I came home from the Vet's and was sitting on the couch looking at the puppies crying, and praying. Out of the blue I heard the LORD speak to me and tell me to go get Sally. I jumped up and ran out to the kennel and brought her to the house and carefully introduced her to the litter. It was as though she stretched out her paw and drew them to her. She smelled them all and licked them and laid down and began to nudge them to her to nurse. She had a litter that was 14 weeks old and had next to no milk so I substituted the milk and as they began to suck on her, slowly her milk came in. She was such a good mommy to these babies, she was all they knew. I feel blessed to have such a good dog.
This is a picture of Sally with one of the puppies.
