This breed was originally bred in England for upland bird and waterfowl hunting. They are an active, muscular dog with a tight, crisp and curly coat. They are 23 to 27 inches tall and weigh 65 to 100 pounds depending on gender, males generally bigger than females.
They are a lively and fun breed, very loyal and affectionate to their owners and family. Curlies are very intelligent but training can be difficult because they get bored easily. They love and need exercise so daily activity is a must to keep them happy and healthy. Curlies love the outdoors, working with people and activities of any kind.
