American Foxhound Pictures
The American Foxhound is part of the scent hounds breed and is a cousin of the English Foxhound and is bred to hunt by scent. The standard appearance is 21 to 25 inches tall and weigh between 65 and 75 pounds although many are larger. Their temperament is sweet, kind, loyal and very loving. They need constant socialization and a lot of exercise to keep them from being bored. If bored they can be very destructive trying to stay busy. The breed lifespan is generally 10 to 13 years without any major health concerns. Although difficult to train at times being very stubborn, they are a great family pet.
